Our museum building, constructed in 1938, was a former doctor’s clinic. The clinic was donated by its owner Community Hospital to the Alexandria-Monroe Township Historical Society in November 1995.
The museum has many rooms of artifacts and a very extensive research library (the Draper Library). The lobby is where the local sports and restaurant memorabilia are displayed. Aladdin lamps have a dedicated room which showcases the variety of oil and electric lamps, many made right here in Alexandria. There are other rooms like the medical, business and industry, church life, clubs and organizations, early history, Small Town USA, schools, military, and the racing room. You can ask for a guided tour or take your own time flowing from room to room and seeing the many memories of our community.
